“Remembering Brando”

$21.00$128.00

This multimedia illustration was created for a dear friend of the artist. It was for a book cover – a memoir she wrote from her own true-life experience with the celebrity. Marlon, Brando; a memoir by Nancy K Peardon. For this usage, it was important to the artist to maintain the likeness of Brando. The pencil drawing had to carry all of the necessary information for that to be accomplished. And that level of detail needed to be maintained throughout the painting process as well for it to be successful as a commercial product.

Marlon Brando’s eyes have often been described as one of his most captivating features.  Many of his performances, like Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire and Vito Corleone in The Godfather, are celebrated in part due to the intensity and magnetism of his gaze. Brando’s eyes were often described as soulful, haunted, and “unforgiving”—qualities that contributed to the mythic, larger-than-life aura he carried both on and off the screen. “Remembering Brando” manages to accomplish this and so much more.
